hardback or paperback.  Hardback copies sell for $50, and paperbacks for $30 (tax included).

The MISSION of the Carnegie Arts Center is to provide quality fine arts instruction, exhibition and performance opportunities, while offering professionals in the arts fields a facility in which to teach, exhibit, perform and share their talents and understanding of the arts.

~ NEW CLASSES AT THE CARNEGIE ~  

 

FRESCO WORKSHOP **

Instructor:  Margaret Springe

Ages:  12-16 years

Dates:   Session 1:  Monday-Wednesday, June 23 – June 25

            Session 2:  Monday-Wednesday, July 21 – July 23

            Session 3:  Monday-Wednesday, July 28 – July 30

Times:  12:30 – 2:30 pm

Cost: $115 members/$120 non-members

 

Come and discover the authentic technique of fresco.  Fresco means "fresh" in Italian and refers to painting on fresh or wet plaster in the style of the Renaissance masters.  We will learn several steps of buon fresco while completing a 12x12 inch tile.  Learn how to make a cartoon, apply plaster, pounce and paint on wet plaster!  Students have the opportunity to use unique tools with every step.  Learn some art history and have fun.  All materials provided.

 

WHEEL THROWING I **

Instructor: Jeanette Oliver

Ages: 12-16 years

Dates: (8) Mondays, June 9 – August 4

Time: 1:30-3:30 pm

Cost: $120 members/$130 non-members

 

No prior experience or knowledge is needed in this class.  Anyone who is interested in throwing pottery on the wheel can learn all the basics they need to know.  This will be a lot of fun and a great chance to learn a new skill.  All supplies and firings included.

Parents and budding artists, it's that time of year again.

This summer we will be studying the art of Ancient China (session 1)

as well as African art (session 2).

 Clarinet and Saxophone (beginning, intermediate, and advanced)

Tuesdays, starting March 4th, between 3:30 – 7:30 pm with Gary Mushlin

 

Guitar (beginning)

Saturdays, starting June 7th, between 9:00 am and noon with Bill Elliot

 

 

Tuition for private lessons is paid monthly, not by the lesson. 

Tuition should be paid at the beginning of each month prior to the start of the first lesson.

 

Tuition rates (per month):

30 minute lessons: $60 members/$68 non-members

45 minute lessons: $90 members/$102 non-members

60 minute lessons: $120 members/$136 non-members

The Carnegie Store

 

The Carnegie Arts Center is now selling commemorative editions of

"Leavenworth Legacy, Photographs of Frank C. Morrow." 

The book, available in both hardback and paperback,  features photographs

of early Leavenworth and the surrounding area as well as photos of the artist's private life.

Posters featuring the artwork of Yang Yang and of Maya Simonson,

a former Carnegie intern, are also available.
