Class Policies

Class Cancellation
All classes have a set minimum enrollment. If the class does not fill, it may be rescheduled or cancelled. Your early enrollment will help us determine whether or not a class needs to be rescheduled or cancelled.

Missed Classes
In the event that an instructor is unable to keep a class appointment, the class will be rescheduled. If a student misses a class, it cannot be rescheduled.

** Missed Private Lessons **
In the event that an instructor is unable to keep a private lesson appointment, the lesson will be rescheduled.  If the student does not call the Carnegie to cancel their lesson at least 12 hours prior to that lesson, they forfeit their right to a make-up lesson.  Exceptions will be made for family emergencies.

Refunds
Refunds cannot be made after a class has begun, since instructors' pay is partially based upon start-date enrollment numbers. Refunds will only be granted up to 1 week before the first day of class.

** Private Lesson Tuition Policy **
Tuition for private lessons is paid monthly, not by the lesson.  Tuition should be paid at the beginning of each month prior to the start of the first lesson.

Tuition rates (per month):

30 minutes: $60 members/$68 non-members

45 minutes: $90 members/$102 non-members

60 minutes: $120 members/$136 non-members

The Carnegie guarantees 3 lessons a month.

Most months the student will receive 4 lessons.

Some months the student will receive 5 lessons.

Holidays
The Carnegie recognizes national holidays and most school closings. Please check the Carnegie events calendar (see "Calendar" at the top of the page) or call the Carnegie regarding holidays and cancellations of classes.

** Winter Weather **
If the Leavenworth School District 453 cancels their classes, the Carnegie Arts Center is closed also.

Member and Non-Member Fees
Carnegie membership greatly supports the continuing operation of our facility and programs. Non-members are welcome and invited to participate in our program although we require that they pay a small non-member participation fee. Fees are indicated after each class description.

Studio Use

Pottery, Print, Lithography and Dance Studios

Open Studio Time Available!

The Carnegie offers open studio time for artists wanting to come and use the studio during hours of operation. The Charge for open studio time is $50 for members and $55 for non-members.

A minimum level of proficiency must be demonstrated before any individual may receive authorization to use Carnegie Arts Center's equipment without supervision.  Anyone interested in using the pottery studio can receive instruction from the pottery studio manager for an additional $40.

Call 913-651-0765 for more information!

Music Studios

Students taking private lessons at the Carnegie Arts Center may reserve practice time, as space is available.  Check with office personnel for time.  We regret that the Steinway is not available as a practice piano.

Fees for use of the studios, excluding classes, are $50 per month for members and $55 for non-members.  The fees are due the first week of the month.  Users must sign in at the front desk to be sure the studio is not in use for classes.  Persons using the studio are expected to clean up and return the studio to the condition in which it was found.
